About Us

Founded in 2025, Nigeria Climate Watch is an independent nonprofit newsroom dedicated to producing rigorous, public-interest journalism on climate change, environmental sustainability, and ecological justice across Nigeria. We investigate how climate policies, industrial practices, and local governance shape lives, livelihoods, and the natural systems that sustain them.

Our mission is to inform, engage, and hold power to account in the face of a changing climate. Through data-driven reporting, in-depth investigations, and community-focused storytelling, we shine a light on environmental injustices, amplify underreported voices, and examine both the human cost and potential solutions to Nigeria’s climate and environmental challenges.

We maintain editorial independence and nonpartisanship in all our work. Our reporting is freely accessible because we believe credible information on climate and the environment should be a public good, not a privilege.

Nigeria Climate Watch is supported through philanthropic grants and reader contributions. We collaborate with media partners, research institutions, and civic organizations to strengthen environmental journalism, promote transparency, and inspire collective action toward a climate-resilient future.
